About Us
Worksop Junior Darts Academy was created to inspire, support, and develop the next generation of dart players in Worksop and the surrounding areas — in a fun, safe, and positive environment.
Based at Manton Sports & Entertainment on Retford Road, the academy provides structured darts sessions for young people aged 8–18, welcoming complete beginners through to more experienced players. Our aim is simple: to give every young person the opportunity to enjoy darts, improve their skills, and build confidence both on and off the oche.
Founded by Jason McGlone, Worksop Junior Darts Academy was set up in response to growing interest in junior darts locally and a lack of structured pathways for young players. Since launch, the academy has grown quickly and now supports a large and diverse group of juniors from across the region.
Our weekly coaching sessions focus on:
-
Throwing technique and consistency
-
Scoring and finishing
-
Match play and competition mindset
-
Sportsmanship, etiquette, and confidence
Sessions are delivered in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere, with emphasis on enjoyment, respect, and personal development — not just results.
Beyond darts, we are proud of our community values. Working alongside From the Heart Charity and local supporters, we help ensure that financial barriers don’t prevent children from taking part, providing access to darts equipment and opportunities for all.
We actively encourage progression, whether that’s moving into junior competitions, development tours, or preparing players for transition into adult darts when the time is right.
At Worksop Junior Darts Academy, we don’t just develop players —
we build confidence, character, and community through darts 🎯
The academy was backed by a £500 grant from local Bassetlaw group Focus On Young People In Bassetlaw and a £650 grant from Bassetlaw councillors and is supported by the Worksop Charity ‘From the Heart’.
This grant helped us set up with dartboards and help towards a player shirt for each academy player.

Powered by passion. Built for the future. 🎯
Jason McGlone
Jason McGlone is the founder and driving force behind Worksop Junior Darts Academy, bringing together his passion for darts, strong community values, and commitment to creating positive opportunities for young people.
A long-standing figure in the local darts scene, Jason has spent many years playing, organising, and supporting darts at grassroots level. Through this experience, he identified a clear gap in structured, junior-focused coaching and development pathways within the area — which led to the creation of Worksop Junior Darts Academy.
Jason founded the academy with a clear vision:
-
To give young people a safe, supportive environment to learn darts
-
To build confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship alongside playing ability
-
To create clear pathways from junior darts into competitive and adult leagues
Beyond darts, Jason is deeply committed to the local community. He actively works with From the Heart Charity and other local partners to ensure that financial circumstances never prevent a young person from taking part in sport. This community-first approach sits at the heart of everything the academy does.
Jason is known for his hands-on involvement, regularly attending sessions, supporting players, engaging with parents, and helping juniors progress both competitively and personally. His focus is not just on producing better dart players, but on helping young people develop confidence, respect, and life skills that extend far beyond the oche.
Under Jason’s leadership, Worksop Junior Darts Academy has grown rapidly and continues to establish itself as a recognised hub for junior darts development in the region.
“Darts is the hook — confidence, character, and community are the real win.”
